. . . glittery pink belle epoque chandeliers and vintage armoires to store & display shoes are but a few of the things to fall madly in love with in the home of designer anne brahler -- other impossibly romantic things include french daybeds and antique fauteuils, a library filled with leather-bound books and walls upon walls of gilded mirrors and most of all, chandeliers in each and every room . . .

. . . and this weekend was long, long walks together about the city streets, a trench and skinny jeans and strappy sandals; and languid browsings in pretty shops after sundrenched window seats at quaint cafés; a glass of prosecco while daydreaming [and a pint for p], and dinner at a restaurant had never been; and in the evening, there was time for thought and reflection, and the feverish excitement of long-awaited plans . . .

. . . if there is one thing this hopeless romantic can never resist, it is a tiara -- diamonds or pearls or a million emeralds, there is just something magical about them, and happening upon this delicately lovely one, there was an audible gasp -- spring buds dipped in wax and fashioned after a french tiara from the 1800's -- an impossible romantic and utterly spectacular creation . . .

"We rest here while we can, but we hear the ocean calling in our dreams, And we know by the morning, the wind will fill our sails to test the seams, The calm is on the water and part of us would linger by the shore, For ships are safe in harbor, but that's not what ships are for."

{take me away № 29 | city guides № 03 : london, england}

From all around the world, millions of visitors long to take a trip to this incredible city -- one that many lovingly call the greatest city in the world. The capital of England and the United Kingdom, the city of London is located on the famous River Thames, with a history dating far, far back in time to the days of the Romans. And interestingly, London's most ancient core, the City of London, even retains its square-mile medieval boundaries -- certainly a site to see!

london26

Indeed, London is a grand, global and boundless city. In fact, The Greater London Urban Area consists of 8,278,251 people, with over 300 languages spoken within the city, and counting. It is a vast city of compelling culture, arts, education, entertainment, media, development, and, of course, tourism.

london30

Speak or dream of London, and a multitude of words, descriptions and images may fall in a flurry, but at the city's very essence are its astonishing views and limitless points of history -- a rich history that lives on today, proudly celebrated within day to day living . . .

london27

. . . amoungst the modern buildings and latest technologies, amoungst fast-paced media and ever-evolving, new design.

london32

You will find it whispered into ears of loved ones, and in gestures of welcome and pageantry, in a delicious tea prepared and served, and within uniforms and parades, roses and roads -- for it is the history itself that casts the most beautiful backdrop for life . . .

london28

. . . and one may find it impossible not to be taken aback and fall completely in love with London, a place were actors and poets have joined their minds for centuries, where painters learned and developed their hands, eyes and hearts for their craft, where writers' minds were opened and where their pens explored new territories and imaginative journeys . . .

. . . every time we are in new york, mostly spend days in manhattan, only a few times venturing across the bridge to brooklyn, perhaps to pick up a few rings & things at catbird, and or to browse the kitchenware at brook farm, but now wondering why had never thought to visit the brooklyn botanical garden, especially during the orchid show, cherry blossoms, or other stunning special collections -- how utterly divine!

. . . first it was photography, and now, illustration -- when it comes to blog inspiration, one never knows from where it may fall, and recently, it has been the blog of brooklyn illustrator, bernadette pascua -- first discovered through sarah, instantly fell in love with the artist's whimsical watercolours; her beautiful illustrations have been seen everywhere from j.crew and w magazine to christian dior, bernadette's blog feels like a wonderfully creative scrapbook that was assembled with paint and paper, which is really quite charming in this digital age . . .
